Operations Engineer


Our Operations Engineers lead client engagements including requirements gathering, scoping, and designing solutions to meet individual client needs. They serve as primary point of contact and escalation for field services organization to ensure successful implementation including configuration, testing and quality, deployment, and technical support. Responsibilities also include analyzing and improving client business processes and workflows for new technology implementation.


  • Participate in complex, medium or large projects to implement changes within customer environments
  • Manage projects involving infrastructure consolidation/moves, including initial implementations and upgrades as well as experience with managing infrastructure improvement programs from inception through implementation
  • Liaise between internal teams with operations
  • Take ownership of client issues ensuring appropriate parties are engaged for timely resolution
  • Manage compliance with telecommunication cabling standards, policies, procedures/practices and guidelines
  • Baseline and use KPIs to measure success of engineered solutions and provide feedback to organizations for continuous improvement
  • Responsible for implementing major changes within their discipline which contribute to the overall success of solutions and its ability to meet client and firm needs
  • Identify innovation opportunities within their discipline which result in operational efficiencies
  • Articulate the business value and impact of advanced technical and nontechnical information with ease and know when to seek senior management assistance
  • Provide effective production support including accurate problem identification, ticket documentation and customer/vendor dialogue
  • Frequently provide feedback and strategic recommendations to management
  • Manage own workload and remain accountable, promoting a positive team approach under pressure
  • Regularly liaise with field technicians
  • Receive and filter inbound technical issues in a professional and timely manner
  • Create, maintain and improve operational work instructions.


  • Experience with a minimum of 5+ years in the technology field supporting initiatives and projects in an infrastructure vertical
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience providing technical support in operations environments
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in operations project planning
  • Intermediate understanding of copper and fiber optics standards
  • Intermediate knowledge of LAN and WAN network hardware and software
  • Advanced understanding of change management procedures
  • Ability to present materials at peer and senior management levels.
  • Self-starter able to identify where focus is needed and bring clarity to requirements
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to influence decisions / positions, be seen as a leader
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and desire to cross train outside own area of technical expertise
  • Experience of prioritizing workload in high pressure and time constrained environments.
  • Technical writing and documentation skills

Desired Skills

  • Preference given to candidates with degrees in Business, Technology or related field
  • PMP/PMI Certification
  • Expertise in project management disciplines, methodologies and industry best practices required, using one or all of the following: Agile, Scrum, Iterative, and/or CMMI, et al
